Computational geodynamic modeling, grounded in observable, such as passive seismic, imaging, is a main aspect of the DEFORM Programme. In the first year of the project, we are pleased to invite you to a hands-on training week for members looking to strengthen their practical skills in computational geodynamics and seismology.
The week-long workshop combines introductory sessions with guided exercises and time for independent work. The program focuses on:
- Julia-based tools
- GeophysicalModelGenerator + Picker to visualize geophysical data
- LaMEM for geodynamic simulations
- SeisSol/CyberShake for seismic rupture and seismic cycle simulations
Preliminary schedule:
| Morning | Afternoon | |
| Monday | — | Julia Introduction |
| Tuesday | GMG + Picker | LaMEM |
| Wednesday | LaMEM | Free exercises |
| Thursday | SeisSol | CyberShake |
| Friday | Free exercises | — |
Travel expenses will be covered for members of SPP DEFORM.
Further details will be communicated upon registration. Since the number of participants is limited, please apply here.
Application deadline is June 20, 2026.
We look forward to welcoming you to Mainz!
